The Australian Garden Council LTD (AGC) is a national charitable organisation promoting gardening and ornamental horticulture within the three pillars of Education, Community and Tourism.
This visionary role requires strategic implementation of the AGC three pillars within activities undertaken. The focus is on delivering Horticulture career outcomes among secondary school leavers and support for young Australians already trained or working in Horticulture.
This position reports to the AGC Board and requires attention to detail in administrative duties, record keeping, grant documentation, report writing, contractor and membership management.
The Program Coordinator will manage the current Australian Garden Council programs including:
Stronger promotion and marketing of gardening and horticulture as a career to school leavers through school visits, career days, information to career advisors and social media.
Community and industry surveys to gauge staff and training requirements and perceptions of Horticulture as a career among 17 -18 year old’s.
Increasing secondary school visits targeting years 7, 10 and 12.
Representation to stakeholders and travel for activities to Career Expo’s and garden shows.
Strengthening collaboration and communication between young Horticulturists.
Funding support for more apprenticeships.
Selection criteria – essential:
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as:
Horticulture, Agriculture, Environment, Business, Marketing or Education.
Strong project management, research, administrative and communication skills.
A current driver’s licence.
Working with Children Check or ability to obtain.
Office service capability and provision; MS Office Suite, Word, Excel, Internet, mobile phone.
An ASIC registered Australian Business Number (ABN) and entity, or willingness to obtain.
Eligibility to work in Australia without restrictions i.e. permanent resident, citizen, work visa.
Selection criteria – desirable:
Not for Profit, government grant administration or report writing experience is beneficial.
Work experience in the field of Horticulture or Agriculture.
Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Manage administration of grant and program activities within organisation.
Supervise and support the training, development, compliance of contractors and volunteers.
Build networks and organisational culture with an inclusive and collaborative approach.
Initiate and coordinate various internal projects by providing content and actions.
Update project workflow (using project tracking tools if preferred).
Conduct research and analysis to support intended outcomes.
Assist with strategic direction to the Board for, policy, funding body and procedure reviews.
Maintain membership and contractor databases.
Monitor budget, contractor tasks and activity performance for desired outcomes.
Build networks and relationships with AGC umbrella organisations.
Report writing for the Board and funding bodies.
Administrative services for operations; Board, meetings, shows and Career Expo’s.
Mange risk awareness for operational OH & S, COVID-19, and grant compliances.
