Weedspotter Training - 21 February 2009 - Melbourne
Department of Primary Industries Weedspotter Training - Introductory Level
AILDM has organised for the DPI to provide members with introductory Weedspotter Training.

Weed invasion is a significant threat to Victorians in lost agricultural production, control costs, environmental and social impacts.

The Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) and the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) in Victoria recognise the importance of preventing the weeds of the future. DPI's Weed Alert program focuses on these threats. With help from Weed Spotters, Weed Alert aims to prevent serious new weeds establishing and spreading in Victoria.

Weed Spotters assist the Victorian Government by looking out for and reporting serious uncommon  weeds known as Weed Alert species. This includes Victorian Alert Weeds and State Prohibited Weeds. In addition to this the training provided will also assist members to identify weeds and develop weed control strategies.

This will be followed up with the secondary training module later in the year - dependant on interest.

As part of  this training participants will receive the weedspotter handbook.
